Bareboat Sailing Charters
.
Available from Bodrum every Monday or Saturday, our bareboat charters provide complete independence for experienced sailers. Wherever you want to sail along the Aegean and Mediterranean coast of Turkey, the itinerary is yours to decide. We can also arrange a skipper for those with no, or limited sailing experience.

Chartering a monohull or catamaran from Bodrum and exploring the calm, clear waters of the Aegean Sea, offers the best of all worlds for experienced and less experienced sailers alike. The predictable North Westerly winds throughout the sailing season from March to November, together with virtually no tide in this part of the Mediterranean, provide a sailing environment to suit everyone. For those who prefer more of a challenge, the offshore thermal winds during most afternoons, and the occasional 'Lodos' from the south, provide more exciting conditions.

There are many offshore islands and unspoiled coastal villages to explore along a coast that is both rugged and scenic. Fir clad mountains descend into the sea, while the accessible points along the coast inevitably offer some ancient city or another. No matter in which direction you go, you will find remote, safe and secluded bays around every headland.

Market Provisions

General Information.
Life in Turkey is generally informal, even in restaurants and bars. Lightweight trousers, shorts and tee shirts are the order of the day. Some protection from the sun is needed, a sun hat, long sleeves and plenty of sun lotion is advisable. We also suggest you bring along a pullover, or sweat shirt for the cooler evenings, as well as light waterproofs. Stowage space onboard yachts is always limited, so please bring soft bags in preference to suitcases.

Passports and Visas.
For British and American citizens, a valid passport is required. Visas can be obtained upon entry into Turkey, USA $45, UK £10. Cash payment is required in the appropriate currency. Passport holders of other nationalities should check with their nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate in case visas need to be obtained before arrival.

Vaccinations.

Shopping and Provisions.
Fresh food is cheap and abundant. Shopping at the markets is an experience not to be missed. There are bakers, grocers and butchers at most ports of call. As in any foreign country it is advisable to bring along your favorite items, as imported goods can be expensive or unobtainable: eg pork/ham products, tinned luncheon meats, breakfast cereals, savory spreads, toiletries, sun lotion, books. Eating out is reasonably cheap and most of our clients take advantage of this, calculating the average meal costs at approximately $10 to $20 per person, including drinks. Also Turkish carpets, leather goods and gold jewelry are inexpensive and of high quality.

At present there are no compulsory vaccination requirements for western Turkey. For further information you should consult your own doctor or health authority for current recommendations.

Cancellation.
Cancellations must be notified as soon as possible and will only become effective from the time the notice is received in writing. Please also contact your travel insurance provider to notify them of any claim for compensation. Full details of our cancellation policy are included with quotations.

Currency
.
Bring cash (clean, unmarked notes), or travelers checks. There are change offices in most towns in Turkey, though the banks usually offer very competitive exchange rates. It is not necessary to bring Turkish Lira with you, buying Turkish Lira in your home country can be very expensive. Change only enough for 2 or 3 days at a time. Credit cards are acceptable in most towns and can be used for cash advance at most change offices. There are ATM's in most towns. VISA and MasterCard are the most widely accepted credit cards. American Express cards are not accepted in many establishments due to high merchant commission rates.

Security Deposit
.
A security deposit, as indicated in the price schedules, is payable with the balance of the charter fees, or on arrival at the yacht.
